Modality Systems UC Event: Your Journey to UC – Staying ahead of the game

Modality Systems UC Event: Your Journey to UC – Staying ahead of the game

My employer, Modality Systems, are hosting their third annual UC event in the UK. These are popular events – not just for learning more about the UC landscape, what’s coming and where you can take your organisation – but also a great way to network with other like-minded professionals.

I’ll be attending the event this year, so if you are coming, do come and say hello. I’ll happily talk to you about your Lync Development projects and ideas.

The official hashtag for the event is #Journey2UC14. You can use this to keep informed in the lead up to and during the event.

Event Details

When: Tuesday 2nd December 2014.
Where: Millbrook Technology Park Millbrook, Bedford, MK45 2JQ, UK

About the day

The day is split into three parts.

In the morning session you’ll be presented with a number of sessions looking at

  • The journey to a more collaborative and productive future
  • The potential and value of UC in helping you stay ahead of the game
  • Getting it right and addressing the adoption challenges
  • Supporting and developing your investment with a look at the ‘Art of the Possible’

You’ll also hear real-life examples of how others have deployed Lync and their experiences, as well as a thought provoking look at some ideas for extending the benefits of UC deeper into your business, opening up new ways of working.

Lunch will be a networking session, allowing you to meet with other delegates as well as Modality specialists (and me!). Let’s all catch up and discuss the recent Skype for Business news and what it means. There will also be demonstrations from selected partners showcasing infrastructure hardware, devices, conferencing add-ons, compliance and monitoring applications and more. If you also manage to eat some food, you’ll be doing well!

In the afternoon, it’s time to relax! After lunch, delegates will be treated to a stunt show in front of the conference centre, before having the option to experience the thrills of being taken around the high speed track by one of the trained drivers. Don’t worry – there aren’t any plans for a live Lync Meeting video feed from the passenger seat!

Speakers

The current list of speakers is here, but it’s worth mentioning some names here as well, to pique your interest.

The keynote session will be presented by Kyle Hudson from Microsoft. Kyle is an social network evangelist and will be bringing a fresh look at how to bring a more collaborative environment to your company. Kyle’s previous experience at Huddle and Yammer means you can expect a really interesting and informative keynote. Keeping employee’s engaged and productive is super-important in today’s business world, and I’m definitely going to be taking notes on this one.

Also speaking is Jamie Wheeldon, IT Infrastructure Consultant at Schroders, a global asset management company with headquarters in London. Jamie has first-hand experience of delivering a UC strategy throughout Schroders and will be bringing you his experiences, best practices and gotchas. I’m really looking to hearing how Jamie overcame some of the user adoption roadblocks and managed to achieve a smooth and successful roll out – there are sure to be tips and tricks in there for everyone.
