See you at: Microsoft Tech Summit Birmingham

This week, on Wednesday 24th and Thursday 25th January, in Birmingham, UK the Microsoft Tech Summit comes to town.

Tech Summits are being held in cities all over the world (see the full list), and this week it’s the turn of Birmingham to host – at the NEC.

There are nearly 100 sessions, aimed at both developers and IT professionals and covering AI, Cloud Computing, Infrastructure, Productivity, Security…I could go on, but you’re probably better off checking out the Session Catalogue. However, here are a couple of sessions which you might find interesting:

Microsoft 365: Transform your communications with Microsoft Teams and Skype for Business
Kerri Hollis, Graham Hosking

We recently announced a new vision for Intelligent Communications with Microsoft Teams – expanding beyond traditional unified communications to transform the calling and meeting experiences for your organization. Microsoft Teams will evolve to be the primary client for Intelligent Communications in Office 365, replacing the Skype for Business client over time. In this session, we will look at what this journey looks like for both IT and end-users.

Build smarter apps with Office using the Microsoft Graph
Wes Hackett

The Microsoft Graph is the gateway to Office 365 and Microsoft cloud data, insights, and rich relationships. Supporting both work and school accounts and personal accounts, the Microsoft Graph is the easiest way to integrate with user’s data and build smarter and contextual aware applications that leverage the power of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Azure, and Windows. Join this session to learn how easy it is to use the Microsoft Graph to build people- and group-centric applications that use the latest APIs from Azure Active Directory, SharePoint, Microsoft OneDrive, Outlook, OneNote, Planner, Excel, Teams, and more, all under a single endpoint and enabling high impact business scenarios.

Microsoft Teams Platform: Build and package apps for your modern teams
Mansoor Malik

Empower your teams by building apps that integrate SaaS and enterprise line-of-business applications as native features of Microsoft Teams, the hub for teamwork in Office 365. Learn how to build, package, and distribute an app by walking through an example showing tabs, bots, compose extensions, and other Teams developer platform capabilities.

Also happening is Scott Gutherie’s Red Shirt Tour – a one-day, free, code-first event for developers coming to Tech Summit Birmingham. Join Scott Guthrie – Microsoft’s Executive Vice President of Cloud and Enterprise known for his red shirt – as he codes live onstage and demonstrates how Azure can help you solve some of your most complex developer problems.

The event is free, but if you haven’t done so yet then you need to Register to attend. At the time of posting, there were still spaces left, so be quick!

Come and Say Hi!

I’m going to be on the Office Service & Services booth in the Tech Summit Hub on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning with fellow MVPs. It would be great to see you if you’re going to be there.  I’m also going to be doing some videos (hopefully live if the WiFi can handle it) so if you’re not able to attend then look out for those on my YouTube channel. Also, it’s likely that my Weekly Update this week will also come from there.
