Hurrah for democracy and open-ness, or another place for developers to anxiously police? You can decide, but it seems that ratings and reviews will soon be coming to the Microsoft Teams store for apps.
This will include apps from both Microsoft and third party developers. By default, reviews will be anonymous, but there will be a way for app owners to respond to reviews via the Partner Center. Users will need to have installed the app to be able to leave feedback for it.
These reviews will also be visible to potential customers browsing apps on the AppSource website and within Teams. Presumably (though this isn’t mentioned anyway) higher-rated apps will bubble to the top of app searches and be more promoted in a category than others.
According to the Roadmap item for this feature, this is expected to start rolling out in October.
How about no?
If you don’t want this, or don’t want your users to be leaving feedback about their app experiences, then you’ll be pleased to know that this feature is controlled by the Optional Connected Experiences, meaning that you can turn it off, and if it’s already off then you shouldn’t see this. It’s not clear whether other people’s reviews will be shown and the OCE flag just covers leaving feedback, or whether it covers the whole thing.
