I’ll be at Lync Conference 2014!

I’m really excited to announce that I’ll be attending Lync Conference 2014! As I didn’t go last year, this will be my first Lync conference.

I’ll be doing my best to blog announcements, news and information – especially those that are of greatest value and interest to developers. I have no idea what the wifi will be like, whether there’s wifi in the hotel in the evenings, or what – but I’ll see what I can do. Maybe I’ll even try a live blog!

I’m sure there will be a zillion other people blogging what’s going on at the Conference, but I’ll be trying to do slightly different, and cover it from a Lync Development point of view. Because we all know who the most important people are, right?!

Developers

So, if there are any questions you want me to ask about where any of the SDKs are going, new features etc. feel free to put them into the comments and I’ll do my best!

There have been some rumours about a new version of the client applications, including a Lync-Skype merged client. Whilst I welcome any new improvements to the user experience, I worry about a possible loss of control of the client applications, unless any new version had a similarly rich SDK offering, like the current Lync client SDK. I think the market for desktop applications that integrate Lync for an improved user experience has been slow to get going, but is really now ramping up, and it would be a real shame to kill it off now.

It’s also going to be my first visit to Las Vegas, which I’m looking forward to seeing.

And if you’re attending Lync Conference this year, come and say hello!
