Lync Conference 2014 Keynote Takeaway – Coming This Year

Lync Conference 2014 Keynote Takeaway – Coming This Year

Conferences are great for meeting lots of people and finding out where the industry is headed. The keynotes usually provide an indication of things to come, whilst showcasing past success and current challenges.

However, sometimes you just want to know what’s just around the corner: what’s concrete, and what’s coming soon.

During the Lync Conference 2014 Keynote, Gurdeep Singh Pall called out what specifically we can expect to be delivered this year:

Keynote2014-ComingThisYear

In 2014, we can expect to see:

  • Support for Lync 2013 running on Android tablets.
  • Interop between Lync Server and Tanberg voice systems
  • Browser extensibility with voice, video, content – this is the UCJA which is being talked about: this is huge news for developers so expect more on this blog about that soon
  • Video calling integration between Lync and Skype – this will be great for both B2C and B2B as well as Employee2Family scenarios. People connect better with video, so it’s great to see that this integration is coming soon.
  • PSTN calls from Lync Online
  • Large Meetings in Lync Online

More information on each of these announcements as it unfolds.
